In Part One of this gentle two-part sleep story, we meet Danny — a quiet boy in a quiet house, who finds his escape in a little plastic radio and his courage in make-believe broadcasts with his best friend. Follow him from bedroom blanket-fort radio (station WKID, "the voice of the bedroom") to a real internship, a midnight chance behind the microphone, and all the way up the ladder to a major-market morning show.
Told slowly, warmly, and made for drifting off — with breathing breaks and a soft landing at the end. Tomorrow night, Part Two: the fall, the turning, and the morning that was finally, truly good.
