Popular social media influencer James Daughtry, known online as “The Granny Protector,” appeared to millions of followers as a fearless man exposing exploitation and protecting vulnerable elderly women—but in July 2022, the shocking murder of the 33-year-old Dallas influencer revealed a hidden world of secrets, blackmail, money, sex trafficking, and an alleged international criminal operation. James was found shot six times inside his Far North Dallas apartment, with the mysterious word “Jen” written in blood on the wall. Investigators soon focused on his girlfriend Jennie Custers, influencer Jennifer Marivan, and retired Dallas police officer Robert Jensen before uncovering encrypted messages, financial records, secret recordings, and alleged connections to Japan.
