The defeat of Barry Goldwater in 1964 wasn’t the end of the movement toward modern day Republicanism. Someone in the stands took notice of his stance and appeal. However, this someone would eventually become the governor of California. Then become President of the United States.
He answered the call of many of conservatives about getting rid of equal time. Allowing conservatives to say anything they want and never needed to debate. This led to the rise of Rush Limbaugh and the conservative radio media.
