Treasurer Jim Chalmers has signalled potential tax relief ahead of the next federal election, following an improved budget position. The latest budget deficit of $22 billion came in $6 billion better than forecast. The most recent round of tax cuts reduced the lowest tax rate from 16 cents to 15 cents per dollar, saving the average Australian worker $58 per quarter.
