ESPN Chicago specialty programming begins a special remembrance of Mike Ditka after the Bears legend passes away at age 86. Jesse Rogers and Peggy reflect on Ditka’s life as a Hall of Fame tight end, Super Bowl-winning head coach, Chicago icon, media personality and one of the defining figures in Bears history. Peggy shares how Ditka helped shape the beginning of her Chicago sports career, while Jesse remembers producing Ditka’s radio shows and how he became must-listen programming in town. The hour includes Dan Campbell telling a classic story about meeting Ditka in a smoke-filled room before the NFL Draft, along with heartfelt listener memories about Ditka’s generosity, golf stories and charity work. Rick Smith also joins to discuss Ditka’s culture-changing impact on the Bears and how Ben Johnson is trying to bring some of that same toughness and accountability back to Chicago.
