The studio cameras are down, somebody needs to get on the roof with some tinfoil, and The Rizzuto Show is temporarily experiencing the ancient broadcasting tradition known as “radio.” Honestly, everybody seems a little too happy about it. While the greatest technical minds in the building allegedly work on the problem, the crew previews Tommy Davidson’s return and somehow ends up comparing impeccably dressed comedy guests to the occasional comedian who arrives smelling like they lost a fight with a shower.Then we celebrate September 24 by traveling back to one of the greatest stretches in music history. September 24, 1991 gave us Nirvana’s Nevermind, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Soundgarden’s Badmotorfinger and A Tribe Called Quest’s The Low End Theory. Add Pearl Jam, Metallica, U2, Cypress Hill and everything else happening around 1991, and the crew realizes an entire generation basically had its musical operating system installed in the span of a few months.From there, this funny podcast heads directly into Crap on Celebrities, where Madonna leads the MTV VMA nominations and Moon remembers something very important: she technically owes him dinner. Back when Moon’s band signed with Maverick, they were allegedly promised a Madonna meeting when the record went gold. They went gold twice. No dinner. Rizz sweetens the deal by offering Moon $500 if he ever produces photographic evidence of Madonna paying for that meal. The clock is ticking, Moon.Taylor Swift has new music coming, the BTS Army is apparently battling Woody, and Rush is helping fund a Neil Peart memorial featuring larger-than-life bronze statues. This launches an extremely mature discussion about gastrointestinal relationship etiquette, whether Selena Gomez participates, and exactly how much romance can survive after dinner. Lern admits there is strategy involved. Rizz maintains standards. Moon mostly seems fascinated by the entire situation. Somewhere, love wins. Unfortunately, it smells terrible.The celebrity chaos keeps coming when U2 announces new music and Rizz immediately detects what he describes as an “air of arrogance,” leading Moon to accuse him of joining the fashionable Bono-hating bandwagon. Nothing says funny podcast quite like grown men debating whether one of the biggest rock bands in history is trying too hard while accidentally playing Benny Blanco audio instead of the new U2 song.Things somehow get even more ’90s when Jonathan Taylor Thomas — yes, JTT himself — lands back in the headlines. According to the story discussed on the show, JTT was arrested after allegedly interfering with a traffic stop, repeatedly getting out of the vehicle and eventually kicking a deputy in the stomach.
