Fall is officially here, so naturally The Rizzuto Show begins with “candlescaping” — the art of strategically filling your home with complementary candles, fragrances and enough open flames to make Moon deeply uncomfortable. Lern is ready for soup, Halloween decorations and a house that smells like books, while Rizz reveals his family was apparently ahead of the candle game with legendary corn cob candles. Finally, the family legacy gets the recognition it deserves.
Then this daily comedy discovers Gen Z would like millennials to stop ending texts with “LOL.” Apparently it can come across as passive-aggressive, dismissive or even hostile, which is unfortunate because the crew plans to pry LOL from its cold, dead hands. Things only get worse when Rizz introduces the alleged replacements, including “laughing in my head,” “laughing by obligation,” “laughing so I don’t cry” and the painfully relatable “hanging by a thread.”
Speaking of hanging by a thread, why does life suddenly feel like it’s moving at warp speed? The crew gets into research about why childhood summers felt endless while adulthood disappears in approximately seven business minutes. The discussion turns surprisingly nostalgic as everyone remembers childhood homes, smells, sunlight, routines and why trying new things might help life feel a little longer. Moon recommends creating new experiences. Rizz suggests robbing a bank. Please follow Moon’s advice.
Then this daily comedy heads to court. A woman is seeking millions after suffering a serious injury when she fell from the stage during the St. Louis Blues’ 2019 Stanley Cup celebration, sparking a debate over event security versus personal responsibility. That leads Rizz to reveal why a planned Rizz Show ’90s cruise never happened: apparently corporate lawyers were slightly concerned somebody might get hammered and jump off the ship. Fun continues to be undefeated by liability insurance.
The legal debate continues with a lawsuit involving a woman whose ex allegedly used an AirTag hidden under her car to track her movements. Her iPhone was supposed to warn her about an unknown AirTag traveling with her, but she says she never received the alert. The crew debates where responsibility falls when technology designed to help find lost stuff gets used by terrible people.
And then we get to the flight.
A 25-year-old passenger says the man seated beside her began openly “Joeing” while staring at her during a flight. She reports it to the crew, but with no open seats available, she ends up standing in the aisle before eventually having to return to her assigned seat for landing. Lern shares her own experience encountering public Joeing, Moon tries to understand how nobody intervened, and the show reaches one unanimous conclusion: Joe at home, everybody.
Candles, LOL wars, childhood nostalgia, courtroom debates, creepy technology and the absolute worst possible airline seatmate — another perfectly relaxing daily comedy from The Rizzuto Show.
