How did a work loaned by a Pennsylvania collector vanish from a gallery, be replaced by a perfect copy, and end up abandoned without a scratch?

- The painting stood in an alley for 6 hours and 50 minutes before being found by Connie Marsh at 7:00 a.m, on a Tuesday in September.
- Gordon Ashford founded Ashford Contemporary in 2004 and is 61 years old.
- Edward Cook, age 28, worked at Ashford Contemporary for 14 months and left in March 2019.
- Cook wrote the condition report in January 2019, which included high-resolution photos under raking light, ultraviolet, and infrared.
- Cook spent the last eight months of his time at the gallery bowling Thursday nights at Crestfield Lanes, where he met Paul Strickland.
