- Jessica Andrews was 46 years old and took the same two-mile morning walk every day, stopping ten minutes on a bench outside the Tulloch County Library.
- Her boyfriend Tom Alvarado reported her missing at 6:40 p.m. on March 9, 2001; her body was found 48 hours later at dawn on March 11, 2001.
- Raymond Long, age 61, found the shoe and Jessica’s body before seven a.m. on March 11, 2001 while on his usual visit to Peller Marsh.
- Forensic examiner Barbara Elms noted the shoe’s insole was dry with no marsh sediment, concluding the shoe had been carried to the bank separately from the body.
- Neil Henderson, age 44, was assigned and signed a work order to install a lock on the 30-inch utility gate between Jessica’s backyard and the adjacent duplex in September 2000, but the lock was never installed.
