- The system printed a single-page log entry timestamped five minutes before 3:00 AM saying "Line test - signal returned."
- Gregory Myers, two doors away in room eight, woke "just before three in the morning," counted four rings, and wrote one sentence in his notebook.
- Kevin Ochoa, a network infrastructure worker, confirmed the line was "physically dead" and that the returned-signal entry should not have been possible.
