A positive HIV test at 17 could have shattered Sherley’s future, but she made a decision on the spot: this diagnosis will not take me out.

In this episode of The Healing in Sharing, Sherley, a Haitian American author, scholar, founder, and advocate, shares how she listened to her intuition, got tested, and began learning a new language of care while still trying to survive as a teenager.

We talk about self-advocacy, HIV stigma, culture, shame, self-worth, relationships, and the power of choosing mind over matter. Sherley also shares how nutrition, solitude, spirituality, creativity, and ancestral connection became part of her healing.

Today, through Healing Majestically, Sherley uses narrative medicine, poetry, and letter writing, to help survivors of sexual trauma reclaim their voice. She also speaks honestly about burnout, boundaries, and why support matters when you are called to help others heal.

This conversation is for anyone who needs a reminder that pain does not get the final word.
