Listen to a beautiful and deeply touching love story from the hills of Gujarat with this episode of Kasumbal by Jalso Culture. Shared with care by Priyanshi Madhu, this audio story tells the old legend of Rano and Kunvar—two souls whose love was larger than life itself. Taken from the famous book
Saurashtrani Rasdhar by the great author Zaverchand Meghani, the story is set near the ancient Sana Hills of Gir. It begins with Kunvar, a young village girl, who falls in love with the beautiful, wordless traditional music (Sarju Gaan) sung by a lonely shepherd named Rano. Though they fall deeply in love just by looking at each other, they belong to different communities, and Kunvar is soon married to another man. Separated by society, both spend years longing for each other, falling terribly ill from the pain of separation. In the end, Kunvar leaves everything to find Rano one last time in a quiet cave in the mountains. This Jalso Gujarati features emotional old folk verses (Duhas) and tells a sweet, simple story about absolute loyalty, deep connection, and a love that endures forever in the hills.
