Between 1992 and 1999, John Bunting, Robert Wagner, and James Vlassakis murdered at least 11 victims in and around Adelaide, storing most bodies in acid-filled barrels. [citation:2][citation:6] The killers were driven by a twisted hatred of paedophiles, homosexuals, drug users, and even overweight people, torturing victims and cashing in their welfare checks. [citation:2] Bunting kept a "spider wall" of suspected targets, calling himself "God" and "Master" during the killings. [citation:2] The trial became one of the longest in Australian history, costing $15 million. [citation:6] Bunting and Wagner received life without parole.
