🌲 "Seven young backpackers entered the forest. Seven bodies were found in shallow graves. And a killer's signature was left in the dirt."
Between 1989 and 1993, Ivan Milat lured his victims—three Germans, two Britons, and two Australians—into New South Wales' Belanglo State Forest [citation:2]. He shot, stabbed, and buried them in pyramids of sticks [citation:3]. One woman was decapitated. Another had been used for target practice [citation:2]. The horror didn't end until a British hitchhiker named Paul Onions escaped Milat's car and flagged down help [citation:9]. Milat was convicted of seven counts of murder and sentenced to life without parole. He died in prison in 2019, never confessing—and suspected of more victims [citation:3].
