In response, members of the community have stepped in with efforts to bring people together, including launching a petition to promote unity. SBS Hindi spoke with Melbourne Lord Mayor Nick Reece, who shared details of the project and responded to the criticism, as well as community leader Vasan Srinivasan, who initiated the petition.
