A proposito di questo titolo
In the sexy and hilarious novel from bestselling author Sara L. Hudson, find out what happens when a grumpy billionaire, a perpetually friendly marketing exec and a hairless cat with a catnip addiction spend a night in Vegas... (A black-eye for starters.)
Thomas Moore, heir to the glamorous New York department store Moore’s, has everything. Everything but a sense of humor. Probably why he's so often compared to his philandering crook of a father.
Alice Truman, recently promoted from the sales floor, is determined to prove her worth. Even if that means smiling in the face of the arrogant and too-sexy-for-his-own-good Thomas Moore, who seems to think her unfit for her new position.
Avoidance works wonders until Alice's best friend plans an Elvis-themed destination wedding with Thomas’ brother—a concept the modern Mr. Darcy loathes.
Throw in a hairless cat, a calamitous bachelorette party and some questionable cocktails, and things become… complicated. And when things get complicated, anyone but the boss would be better.
©2023 Sara L. Hudson (P)2023 Boldwood BooksThe first couple of chapters perfectly captured the atmosphere of my beloved, slapstick 50s rom-coms. I found myself laughing out loud more than once. The situations the characters found themself in were outrageous and I loved it... Until they just became unrealistic. The first time between them? It was so nonsensical that I had to go back to listen to those paragraphs to be sure I understood correctly.
However, the worst part was that, after the Vegas "marriage," the book suddenly loses those funny moments that made the first chapters stand out. It became just a standard romance where the protagonists have to fake a relationship to "save" a kid from the social services.
The ending at least moved me. The male hero was so precious.
Overall, not a bad book. I see the potential in this author and I see myself giving her another chance.
Excellent beginning but the rest... Eh
