Alyssa Gardner has been down the rabbit hole. She was crowned Queen of the Red Court and faced the bandersnatch. She saved the life of Jeb, the boy she loves, and escaped the machinations of the disturbingly appealing Morpheus. Now all she has to do is graduate high school.
That would be easier without her mother, freshly released from an asylum, acting overly protective and suspicious. And it would be much simpler if the mysterious Morpheus didn't show up at school one day to tempt her with another dangerous quest in the dark, challenging Wonderland - where she (partly) belongs.
Could she leave Jeb and her parents behind again, for the sake of a man she knows has manipulated her before? Will her mother and Jeb trust her to do what's right? Listeners will swoon over the satisfying return to Howard's bold, sensual reimagining of Carroll's classic.
I liked the first book, Splintered. I really liked this one. The series is a riff on Alice in Wonderland mixed with the teen angst, love triangle of Twilight. I can picture the Team Jeb and Team Morpheus shirts. I had to stop listening when it got too angsty for me, that's the problem with being in your 30's and still listening/reading YA fiction. Once I got over wanting to slap Alyssa for being a whiner I really got into it. Rebecca Gibel is the perfect narrator for this book. Great book!

I am so in love with this series. The addition of having her mom becoming more in the series was a delight and I highly enjoyed that. Rebecca does an amazing job with being a narrator for the book. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat. Can't wait until the next one.

a very good book in terms of story and plot with a few overtly cliche and eye rolling moments at time. otherwise in terms of audio, an amazing story teller. she really made the book fun to listen to and it was easy to immerse yourself. sometimes I forgot it was only one person doing multiple voices.
I really don't like how Alyssa is such a weak person in the beginning of this book. After all she did in the first book and now the author wants to make her a weak bitch again?! Uh...no! Shouldn't have happened at all. Author needs a clue
Again, one my favorite series, I've read. Personal top 10. Still not excited with the narrator's Morpheus voice but the rest was better than the first one. Would recommend to anyone.
I loved it! going to get the 3rd one right now! story line is awesome and keeps you wanting more.
This YA fantasy novel is part of the Splintered series, which is a dark and twisted retelling of Alice in Wonderland. Since Unhinged is the second book in the series, I won’t discuss any specifics, to avoid spoilers for book one.
However, it was fantastic, and I have become a bit obsessed with the world and characters. I look forward to reading book 3, especially since book 2 ends on a cliff-hanger. These stories are really creative, and Rebecca Gibel is an excellent reader.
“Unhinged” by A.G. Howard was a dark and twisted sequel to “Splintered.” “Unhinged” picks up several months after “Splintered” ended. Alyssa is trying to figure out her relationship with Jeb but it is a bit difficult because he doesn’t remember any of their time in Wonderland. When Morpheus starts showing up in her dreams again, Alyssa wonders if something is up. Now that Wonderland is in danger again, Alyssa doesn’t want to go back but she is afraid that she must if she is to say her beloved second home.
I really did like “Unhinged.” I felt like I really got know both Alyssa and Morpheus better in this book. I think “Unhinged” focuses a lot on Morpheus and who he is. I really liked getting to know Morpheus better. I think it all sequels where similar to this one then I would enjoy them a whole lot more. I like when I get to know the characters better. I don’t just want to see one side of them but all the sides that make the character. I think Howard did a great job with this one because I truly got to see all sides of these characters.
The biggest complaint that I have is also why it made it so good. The love triangle was getting a little out of hand in “Unhinged.” I also think this is why it made the book good because you really got to know how each character felt about the other one. The back and forth between whom Alyssa should love was really getting old. Then when there is a loop-hole everything becomes a huge mess.
The visual art in this story is amazing. Howard paints such a beautiful Wonderland. It is creepy and sinister but beautiful none the less. I fell in love with it right away. I still think this is one of my favorite “Alice in Wonderland” retellings. I am really looking forward to reading “Ensnared” and seeing how it all ends.
“AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY”
I love this series, I enjoyed the writers awesome dark twist to one of my favorite stories and the narrator is beyond amazing I absolutely adore her.
I didn't much enjoy that this story's setting was set away from my wonderland but I will have to say my favorite chapter was the prom and I enjoyed the vision she set on my mind for the setting. I also loved that Allison finally broke out of her shell, the mother daughter scene touched my heart. The sweetness of them finally being of the same cloth and believing that together they can do anything actually made me tear up.
This Series is Clever, Dark and Beautiful!
This series is a must for Wonderland lovers like myself.
BTW Morpheus still has my heart.
I love this series of stories, and think they are a fantastic take on old classics. I really like the characters, and find it really hard to stop listening once I start. Would recommend.
