In the explosive third volume of The Hundredth Queen Series, the queen of fire faces off against a demon of ice.
Despite the odds, Kalinda has survived it all: Marriage to a tyrant. Tournaments to the death. The forbidden power to rule fire. The icy touch of a demon.
That same demon now disguises itself as Rajah Tarek, Kalinda's late husband and a man who has never stopped haunting her. Upon taking control of the palace and the army, the demon brands Kalinda and her companions as traitors to the empire. They flee across the sea, seeking haven in the Southern Isles.
In Lestari, Kalinda's powers are not condemned, as they are in her land. Now free to use them to protect those she loves, Kalinda soon realizes that the demon has tainted her with a cold poison, rendering her fire uncontrollable. But the lack of control may be just what she needs to send the demon back to the darkest depths of the Void.
To take back the empire, Kalinda will ally with those she distrusts - and risk losing those most loyal to her - to defeat the demon and bring peace to a divided nation.
Once again, Emily King proves her mastery of world-building and story-crafting. I don't want to elaborate too much for obvious reasons, but I can promise you that this book will make you feel a spectrum of emotion few books can cultivate. I cannot wait for the next one!

All of the books on this series are GREAT! I am looking forward to the next one! I am invested in all of the characters!
this is a story for the "true romantics", not someone who has dealt with real life choices. I was realy into this series until she decided her choice in the claiming chamber and then everything almost became a joke? it's almost as though King was finishing up the series but was informed she got a 4th book and suddenly had to make shit crazy again. The prince and Devin are suddenly best friends? bullshit. fuck devin. worst character in the book. "he hasn't imposed his will on her" hahaha oh okay. sure, dude. The naive girl falls in the first guy she meets and she betrays everyone. The prince is the best character, he's the most mature despite her constant bullshit.
This series is good, but the male narrator that was added for book 2 and 3 mispronounces the main character’s name in BOTH audible books!!!! There is NO excuse for him to be doing it AGAIN. The main character’s name is Kalinda, but she goes by “CAL-ee”, like Allie. The male narrator and her love interest pronounces her name “call-EE”, like Ali as in Muhammad Ali with the emphasis on the second syllable. Not only does he say it wrong but he puts the emphasis on the wrong syllable. Oh, maybe he has a cool accent, you might be wondering? NO. Both characters have an American accent.
The second narrator is RUINING the audio experience. It’s so distracting- it actually makes me dislike the character and think that he’s stupid.
Audible, PLEASE fix this for book 4!!!!!
There is NO good in demons. We aren't reincarnated. We do not summon the dead. You aren't taken to hell. This story is based strongly off of Mythology rather than religion. Some may enjoy this type of tale.
I do like several of the characters & especially how the women were freed. Perfect narrators for the book.
Disappointing ending. :/
I loved this installment in Kalinda's story. The story sucked me in and the narration was excellent! this is the perfect example of what an audio book should sound like!
This is more of a preteen book. I read all three. The love story of a Queen and the King's guard. A young king took over after his father's death. He falls in love with his father's wife. She does not want him. Etc...
Things happened pretty fast towards the end but I liked some of the plot twists. I'm looking forward to continuing the series!
Where does The Rogue Queen rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I really haven't read many Audi Books as I am new to this kind of reading....but....of the 4 I have read this series would be #2 in rank. There were times when the story was too detailed, too long, but what can one expect in a 3 book Novel ?
Who was your favorite character and why?
Well, the Rogue Queen of course !
What does Lauren Ezzo and Scott Merriman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
They brought a believably to this reading because the female voices were actually a female and the same with men's parts. It makes me crazy when a male is narrating, and the pitch of the voice change is barely noticeable. It gets very confusing at times.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Oh heavens no, not all at once ! We are talking about 21 hours here. I do suggest it a wonderful length to do Art by though. I love to sketch and this lengthy story is perfect for that. If you have a quiet Hobby of any kind, this is a wonderful adventure to have in the background.
Any additional comments?
This whole book series is not a historical drama, it is totally a Fantasy world that you are invited to join.
This was a beautifully written story. I would have liked to see the heroin in less situations where she was injured and more situations winning. Overall, I loved the story.
