Distance and difference are the secret tonic of creativity. When we get home, home is still the same. But our mind has changed, and that changes everything. Real journeys continue long after movement in time and space has ceased.
In salvage anthropology, I wrote stories to taste life twice, in the moment and retrospect. And I will survive beyond my physical existence because only words last forever. Wing up, and that’s all you’ve got, the last rite of passage.
