Sintesi dell'editore
You can choose your friends, but you cannot choose your family...or can you?
Now 16, twins Lizzie and Maggie are educated young ladies who have not been called "the Mopsies" in years - except by their guardian, Lady Claire Trevelyan. With the happy prospect of choosing their own future, the girls can leave their dodgy past behind, and Lizzie can bury her deepest childhood memories where they can do no harm.
Upon her graduation from school, Lizzie is awarded an enormous honor, but can she pay the price? Is she ready to be separated from Maggie and become the woman she believes she was meant to be - or will old habits tempt her into defiance and plunge her into disaster?
On a dare Lizzie picks the wrong man's pocket and nearly loses her life. But these frightening events bear unexpected fruit: The dream Lizzie holds closest to her heart comes true in a most unexpected way. But this dream, too, comes with a price. Lizzie must decide whether her true family is the one she was born into or the one she chose that long-ago day when the Lady of Devices steamed into their lives.

Good fun
While not a huge Steampunk fan, I tried these books because I needed something to listen to at work and have not regretted it. The characters are well written, the scenes appropriately cinematic and the story very true to the genre. The narrator provides just the right touch to bring you into the story. Highly recommended.

Nice but a bit boring.
Series Info/Source: This is the fifth book in The Magnificent Devices series. Right now there are 22 books in this series. I borrowed a copy of this audiobook through Audible Plus.
Audiobook Quality (4/5)3: This audiobook series continues to be pleasant to listen to and I enjoy the narration.
Thoughts: This book jumps us forward in time quite a bit. Maggie and Lizzie are now 16 and trying to decide if they want to go to college or finishing school. Claire is finishing up her studies and ready to embark on a career as a scientist. That is until Lizzie’s past comes back to haunt them all.
This was another decent story in this series. I like these books but I never really love them. I think that the situation never really gets all that dire. Everyone is so nice to each other all the time and even the bad guys aren't horribly bad. There just isn't much to propel the story forward for me and the story is never all that exciting.
It was nice to read a story that is mostly from Lizzie's POV, although we hear from Claire as well. Lizzie was a bit more fun as a character because she is not as absolutely perfect as Claire is.
I am not sure I will continue on with this series since I just don't find these books all that exciting or entertaining. They are nice and have some good steampunk elements but aren't great.
My Summary (3/5): Overall this is another decent addition to this solid YA steampunk series. This series is perfectly nice and I have trouble pinpointing why I don’t like it more than I do. There are adventures, steampunk devices, and solid characters but it all feels a bit shallow to me and everyone is so nice to each other that there isn’t much to drive the story forward. It’s just a nice story but not all that exciting or mysterious. I keep saying nice but that word always pops into my mind when I listen to these...I always think “Well that was nice, not very memorable, but nice.”. I don’t plan on continuing the series at this point because I would really rather read something that grabs my attention that I love.

Young, somewhat myopic protagonist
Lizzy is the kind of teenage girl I never was, wanting to fit in with the uppercrust, putting on airs, and neglecting her friends until she is forcibly confronted with the folly of such behavior. I found her unrelatable and tiresome. In Chapter 13, when she decides to stay with her new, rich "benefactor" I seriously considered walking away from the book. It does start to pick up after Chapter 14. if you, like me, are looking for a free, light listen, skipping from the first few chapters to 14 would probably get you all the plot points with less irritation at Lizzy.
I will probably give one more book in the series a try, hoping that a different POV will be more relatable. And less angst filled.
I do agree with other reviews that the voices for different characters can be difficult to discern.

Frankly good
It was like returning to some old friends with deep relationships. There were some good action and twists. I'll read the next in the series.

Love this series
I missed Claire. This was my least fave of the first five but I still liked it. Would like to see these as a TV series or movie series!

Great 5th book!
Would you listen to A Lady of Resources again? Why?
This is simply a wonderful series; good natured, hopeful, and wonderful characters. The mopsie girls find out about their parents, to their ultimate disappointment, and learn what family really means.

The meaning of love
Lizzie demonstrated her depth of understanding of love when she decided she was, oh yah!, loyal to The Lady and Maggie just after discovering her F was a murderer.
Shucks.
Author wrote it off based of her history of deprivation and trauma.
Could happen. Did tarnish the fantasy flow of character development. May b a good thing. Maybe not.

Engaging and endearing.
Where does A Lady of Resources rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This series is an incredibly well written set of books within the Steampunbk genre, and Adina expertly walks the line between a brilliant, steam-infused plot, full of action and invention, and brilliant, strong female characters that readers find themselves falling in love with.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Lady of Resources?
This book takes an interesting turn, breaking from its focus on Claire, to centre the action around the now 16 year old Mopsie twins, who are dealing with the seeming disconnect between their emergence into polite society, and their past on the streets of london. The climactic ending is the most memorable scene of the book, and is in every sense, electrifying.
Which character – as performed by Fiona Hardingham – was your favorite?
This book really opens up Lizzy's world, especially her inner world, and the turmoil she faces as she tries to reconcile her past with what she wants for her future. Fiona as always, shines in performing all of the characters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Very engaging. The plot moves very well and its easily a series you can get very carried away in.

Enjoy Them All, but This One... Weeks!
I've enjoyed all of these books. At times, one familiar with storytelling might be familiar with a method or turn, but this one, for certain -- at least after the teenage histrionics -- definitely had me in the edge of my seat!!!

An awesome adventure, fabulously told
This latest instalment in the series is fabulously narrated, really bringing the tale of the Mopsies' discovery of their true history - and the ensuing chaos! - to life. A wonderful story full of romance, action, adventure, skullduggery, attempted regicide, steampunk elements, Victorian society, airships, munitions, what it means to be a family... and of course Devices!
I highly recommend this series for all lovers of adventure with a steampunk twist, whatever your age
